Celebrating International Women’s Day, Women in Sport Week & Engineers Week at Arrotek Medical

This week at Arrotek Medical, we are proud to celebrate three important events that strongly reflect our company values — International Women’s Day (8th March), Ireland’s Women in Sport Week (2nd–8th March), and Engineers Week (28th February – 6th March).

Together, these initiatives recognise achievement, promote opportunity, and encourage the next generation of women to pursue their ambitions, whether in sport, engineering, or leadership.

This year’s International Women’s Day theme, #GiveToGain, perfectly captures our approach.

#GiveToGain: Investing in the Future

The message behind #GiveToGain is simple but powerful: when we invest in women and girls today, we build stronger communities, industries, and futures tomorrow.

At Arrotek Medical:

  • We give sponsorship to young female athletes.
  • We give long-term support to women’s sports teams.
  • We give mentorship and visibility to women in engineering.
  • We give commitment to equality and inclusion within our workplace.
  • We support work–life balance for everyone, ensuring a healthy and sustainable balance between professional and personal life.

In return, we gain innovation, resilience, leadership, and a more balanced and representative industry.

The initiatives we support during Women in Sport Week and Engineers Week are connected by this shared belief in opportunity and empowerment.

Supporting the Next Generation in Sport

Arrotek Medical is delighted to continue our sponsorship of Erin Egan, who competes at county level with Sligo LGFA.

Playing Gaelic football at this level requires dedication, discipline, and teamwork. Erin embodies the spirit of Women in Sport Week — confidence, commitment, and ambition. By supporting her journey, we are investing not just in an athlete, but in a young leader developing skills that will benefit her throughout life.

Our commitment to women’s sport also extends to team sponsorship. For the past three years, Arrotek Medical has proudly supported the women’s team at Sligo Rugby Football Club.

Club-level sport plays a vital role in building confidence, resilience, and community spirit. Sustained sponsorship ensures female athletes have the resources, visibility, and encouragement they deserve. Supporting Sligo Rugby Ladies reflects our belief that long-term investment creates meaningful and lasting impact.

Engineering Inspiration: Bridging Sport and STEM

As part of this year’s celebrations, Karina Belavenceva, one of Arrotek’s Design Engineers, spent time with Erin to discuss careers in engineering and share her own journey into the medical device industry.

Karina spoke about:

  • Working as a design engineer in a fast-paced, innovative environment
  • The creativity and problem-solving involved in product development
  • The wide range of opportunities available within STEM
  • The benefits of collaboration, progression, and meaningful impact

Erin, in turn, shared what it is like to compete at county level, the training schedule, teamwork, commitment, and pride in representing Sligo.

It was a fantastic exchange between two ambitious young women from different fields, united by shared values of dedication, perseverance, and drive.

By creating these conversations, we aim to encourage more young women to consider careers in engineering and technology, helping to broaden awareness of what is possible beyond traditional pathways.

Engineers Week: Encouraging More Women into STEM

It is especially fitting that these celebrations coincide with Engineers Week, as we continue to highlight the importance of inspiring more females to enter engineering and STEM careers.

At Arrotek Medical, we are committed to:

  • Encouraging greater female participation in engineering
  • Promoting equality, career progression, and leadership opportunities
  • Creating an inclusive and supportive workplace culture
  • We are committed to supporting women in balancing their careers with personal commitments
  • Playing our part in helping to bridge the gender pay gap within our industry

Engineering thrives on diversity of thought and experience. When more women enter technical fields, innovation strengthens, collaboration improves, and better solutions are developed for patients worldwide.

Karina’s career is a strong example of what is achievable, a profession that blends technical expertise, creativity, and real-world impact.

A Shared Celebration of Progress

As we mark International Women’s Day, Women in Sport Week, and Engineers Week, we celebrate the women within our organisation and the athletes we proudly support across our community.

From county-level Gaelic football to club rugby and careers in medical device engineering, the message is clear:

When we give opportunity, we gain progress.

At Arrotek Medical, we remain committed to empowering women in sport, in engineering, and in our workplace — because investing in talent and equality today creates a stronger tomorrow.

Happy International Women’s Day from all at Arrotek Medical.
