Arroteks parent company, Theragenics Opens Cutting-Edge Medical Needle Manufacturing Facility in Costa Rica

State-of-the-Art Facility Supports Global Medical Device Companies

Theragenics, the parent company of Arrotek Medical, has announced the grand opening of its new state-of-the-art facility in the Coyol Free Zone, Costa Rica. This 4,000-square-meter facility, representing a USD $10 million investment, is set to bolster the global medical device supply chain while creating over 500 new jobs in the region.

A Milestone for Costa Rica

The new plant is the first manufacturing facility in Costa Rica dedicated to the production of specialized medical needles, guidewires, and related components. Equipped with advanced technologies, including a 2,000-square-meter production floor and a 1,000-square-meter Class 8 cleanroom, it is designed to meet the stringent demands of the medical device industry.

Mark Pugh, CEO of Theragenics Corporation, expressed his enthusiasm for the project, saying, “We are thrilled to officially open this cutting-edge facility. The dedication and hard work of our team have brought us to this point ahead of schedule. This facility will play a vital role in supporting the global medical device industry by enabling the production of complex and innovative devices that improve patient outcomes.”

Arrotek: At the Heart of Innovation

As a key part of the Theragenics group, Arrotek plays a pivotal role in designing and delivering innovative medical devices. This new facility further enhances Arrotek’s ability to support its global partners with comprehensive solutions that span from concept to production.

Why Costa Rica?

Costa Rica’s skilled workforce and thriving medical device ecosystem were key factors in selecting the location for the new facility. The country’s reputation as a global leader in medical device manufacturing continues to grow, and Theragenics’ investment underscores this status.

“Costa Rica’s skilled workforce and thriving medical device ecosystem made it the ideal location for our new manufacturing facility,” Pugh added. “We are proud to contribute to the country’s continued growth as a hub for medical innovation.”

Driving Innovation and Growth

The facility will serve a wide range of medical device companies, including OEMs and leading life sciences organizations, helping them meet the demands of a rapidly evolving healthcare industry. For Arrotek, this investment enhances its ability to collaborate with partners worldwide, offering tailored solutions and seamless transitions from design to manufacturing.
