Construction work has finished on a new Class 7 cleanroom at our purpose-built medical device design and manufacturing facility in Sligo, Ireland. At 300 sqm, this new cleanroom will be our largest in Europe and will enhance our capabilities.
In addition to the new 300 sqm cleanroom, we have also built a 90 sqm packing area to further support the needs of our customers.
Space has also been designated within the cleanroom for specialist R&D projects.
Dermot Scollan, Production Manager at Arrotek said: “We always have an eye on the future at Arrotek, and we have always been committed to investing in our capabilities to ensure we can meet the demands of our existing and future customers. The construction of this new cleanroom, our largest, is part of that commitment.
“It is a state-of-the-art cleanroom designed and built for the manufacture of minimally invasive medical devices. Our message to the medical device industry is that we can support your requirements. Extensive Cleanroom Capabilities
Work started on the new cleanroom in November 2023. The construction work ended in February, leaving the cleanroom ready for validation. That validation work is nearing completion, and the cleanroom will be operational by April.
It will be the fourth cleanroom at our Irish medical device manufacturing facility and brings our total cleanroom capacity to more than 755 sqm:
- 150 sqm Class 7 cleanroom
- 125 sqm Class 8 cleanroom
- 180 sqm Class 7 cleanroom
- 300 sqm Class 7 cleanroom and 90 sqm packing area
The expansion of our cleanroom capabilities in Ireland comes just a couple of months after the opening of new Class 7 and Class 6 cleanrooms in our facility in Massachusetts, USA.
