Celebrating Women in Sport Week & International Women’s Day: Empowering Young Athletes and Supporting Our Community

This week, we celebrate Women in Sport Week and International Women’s Day on 8th March, under the theme #AccelerateAction. These events highlight the incredible achievements of women in sport and beyond, encouraging progress towards gender equality. To mark these celebrations, we are proud to sponsor three talented young athletes from the Sligo LGFA U14 team: Erin Egan, Blaithin O’Mara, and Grace Keogh.  Our sponsorship of Erin, Blaithin, and Grace will go towards player development and training costs, ensuring the players have the resources to perform at their best. This sponsorship underscores our commitment to supporting young women in sport and empowering them to excel.

Encouraging Female Participation in Sport and Industry

Our sponsorship reflects our belief in the importance of encouraging young women to pursue their passions. These athletes are setting an example for all young women, showing that with hard work, dedication, and support, anything is possible.

As we celebrate International Women’s Day, we also recognise the broader efforts to support women in industries like the medical device sector, which, like sport, has traditionally been male dominated. The medical device industry in Ireland is a hub of innovation, and we are committed to encouraging more women to enter this field, ensuring they have the support and opportunities to succeed.

A Community Commitment

Our Engineering Manager, John Egan, whose daughter is in the development programme for Sligo LGFA, shared, “It’s an honour to support these young athletes. They represent the values of teamwork, resilience, and leadership, and I’m proud to see them grow both on and off the field.”

As we celebrate these achievements, let’s continue to #AccelerateAction, supporting women in sport, industry, and all fields. Together, we can drive positive change and inspire future generations of girls to aim high and break barriers.
