We are currently recruiting for the position of Manufacturing Lean Technician.
Responsibilities:
The responsibilities for this position will include the following:
- Lead and drive Operational Excellence and Continuous Improvement initiatives across site operations.
- Develop and implement Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement strategies to improve efficiency, quality, cost and overall operational performance.
- Apply Lean methodologies including Kaizen, 5S/6S, Value Stream Mapping, Root Cause Analysis and structured problem-solving techniques.
- Identify and eliminate process waste, inefficiencies and non-value-added activities across manufacturing, service delivery, commissioning, calibration, maintenance and support functions.
- Lead cross-functional improvement projects and facilitate structured improvement workshops with key stakeholders.
- Use data, KPIs and performance metrics to identify improvement opportunities and support data-driven decision-making.
- Work closely with Engineering, Quality, Operations, Maintenance teams to identify and deliver sustainable process improvements.
- Liaise with the Manufacturing Engineering team to incorporate reliability initiatives into wider Continuous Improvement programmes.
- Establish, monitor and report on project objectives, timelines, actions and measurable improvement benefits.
- Support the development of a culture of continuous improvement, employee engagement and ownership across the organisation.
- Ensure processes, improvements and associated documentation comply with company standards, regulatory requirements and applicable ISO frameworks.
- Maintain appropriate documentation for improvement projects, processes, workflows, procedures and governance requirements.
- Promote standardisation and best practice across departments and identify opportunities for the replication of successful improvements.
- Support training and coaching of employees in Lean principles, problem-solving techniques and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Ensure appropriate controls are established to sustain improvements following project implementation. Other such duties as may be assigned from time to time by their Manager.
Person Specification:
Candidates likely to be called for interview will have most or all of the following:
- Relevant third-level qualification in Engineering, Manufacturing, Business, Operations, Lean, Quality or a related discipline.
- Proven experience in Continuous Improvement, Operational Excellence, Lean Manufacturing or a similar operational environment.
- Demonstrable experience of leading or supporting process improvement projects with measurable results.
- Strong knowledge and practical application of Lean methodologies and structured problem-solving techniques.
- Experience in Root Cause Analysis and the implementation of effective corrective and preventive actions.
- Strong analytical and numerical skills with the ability to interpret data, identify trends and make evidence-based decisions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.
- Proven ability to work effectively as part of a cross-functional team while also demonstrating initiative and the ability to work independently.
- Strong organisational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple improvement activities simultaneously.
- Excellent attention to detail and a structured approach to problem solving.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
- Experience working within a structured quality, regulatory or ISO environment.
- Ability to develop, maintain and communicate clear process documentation and improvement records.
Desirable Requirements:
- Lean Six Sigma qualification or equivalent Lean/Continuous Improvement training.
- 1-2 Years experience within a regulated manufacturing, engineering, medical device or similar environment.
- 1-2 Years Experience with Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen, 5S/6S and other Lean improvement tools.
- 1-2 Years Experience working with Engineering improvement programmes.
- 1-2 Years Experience with data analysis, KPI development and performance reporting.
- 1-2 Years Experience facilitating improvement workshops and delivering Lean/Continuous Improvement training.
- Knowledge of data governance and applicable data protection requirements, including GDPR.
- Experience with ERP, manufacturing or other business information systems.
